The short version
1. What we never do
- Sell your information, or share it for advertising.
- Run ads, advertising pixels or analytics trackers on this site.
- Ask your age, date of birth, or anything like it.
- Send you marketing email.
2. What we collect and why
Workers. Your email, to sign you in. Your name, city and ZIP, what you do, your trades and years, your pay and when you can start, your experience and references, and a phone number if you add one. We keep them to show your profile to companies and to let them reach you when you allow it.
Invited workers. If someone on our team sends you an invite link, we hold what they typed: your name, and your phone, email, ZIP and what you do if they had them. It is shown to you, not to companies, so you can check it before you save your profile. It is deleted when you save, when the link is turned off, or after about 30 days if the link is never used.
Applicants. When you apply through a company's form or a job page, your name, phone or email, ZIP and answers go to that company. If you confirm your email, the company can write to you about that application.
Company users. Your name, work email and a scrambled copy of your password, plus what your team puts in: the hiring board, notes, messages and interviews. If you follow one of our links to Roofexa, we count which link and when, under your company and not under your name; nothing about you goes to Roofexa.
Messages sent from the contact page. Your name, email, who you are and your message, so we can answer.
Everyone. Your IP address when you sign in, apply or write to us, to limit repeated attempts. The cookies below. Our server logs can include an email address when a sign-in or a send fails.
3. Who sees what
A company searching the marketplace sees your first name and last initial, your area and distance, what you do, your trades, pay and availability. It does not see your phone, email or full name.
Those open only after two things: you agree to be contacted, and the company spends one of its contacts on you. You can turn contact off at any time; that stops new companies, but a company that already opened your details keeps what it wrote down.
Your references, your exact ZIP and the note next to your pay are not shown to companies. Hidden profiles do not show up at all.
If you turn on your public page, anyone can open it and Google can show it: your first name and last initial, your city, what you do, your trades, years, crew size, when you can start and your pay. Never your last name, phone, email, ZIP code, references or the note about you. It is off until you turn it on, it goes down when you hide your profile, and turning it off takes it down right away.
6. How long we keep it
- IP addresses used to limit attempts: about 24 hours.
- Sign-in codes: stored scrambled, deleted about a day after they expire.
- Details typed into an invite link: until you save your profile, or about 30 days if you never do.
- Your yes or no to being contacted, with the time and your IP address: kept as the record of what you agreed to.
- Messages sent from the contact page: deleted 12 months after we answer them.
- Accounts, profiles, applications and hiring records: while the account is open, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Counts of clicks on our links to Roofexa: while the company account is open.
7. Your choices
From your profile you can hide yourself from search, turn contact off, turn your public page on or off, and change your work details at any time.
To correct something you cannot edit, like your name or phone, or to delete your account, write to us from the contact page and we do it within 30 days. A company that already opened your details or received your application keeps them in its own hiring records; you can ask that company too.
8. Security
The site and its database use encrypted connections. Passwords and sign-in codes are stored scrambled, never as typed. Phone numbers and emails reach a company only through the two steps above, and that rule is checked on the server, not only on the screen.
9. Children
This site is for people 18 and older looking for or offering work.
10. Changes and contact
When this policy changes we post the new version here with a new date. The company that runs the site will be named here before launch. Questions go through the contact page.
